Law of Exponents
1. Product Rule for Exponents:
- to multiply powers having the same base, keep the base and add the
exponents.

2. Power Rule for Exponents:


- to find the power of a power of a base, keep the base and multiply the
exponents.

3. Power of a Product Rule:


- to find the power of a product, find the power of each factor and then
multiply the resulting powers.
Rules
• To multiply a polynomial by a monomial, multiply each term of the
polynomial by the monomial.

• The FOIL method (First, Outer, Inner, Last)

1. Square of Binomial

1. Square the first term.


2. Twice the product of first and second term.
3. Square the second term.

2. Cube of Binomial

1. Cube the first term.


2. Three times the product of 1st term(raised to 2) and 2nd term.
3. Three times the product of 1st term and 2nd term (raised to 2).
4. Cube the 2nd term.
