Project Overview
- The overall effects of the Novel Covid-19 pandemic, can not be overemphasized.

- The virus first emerged in December 2019 in Wuhan, China and rapidly became a global pandemic by mid-February 2020
due to its ease of spread.
- Unfortunately, the most impacted populace/community within America happens to be communities of color.

- The purpose of this project is to understand and fully explore the impact of Covid-19 on these communities.

- Our current prototype seeks to help us understand our client’s expectations and glean useful responses to help tailor our final
deliverable, while ensuring we deliver the expected project outcome.
- The goal of this project is to quantify the extent and causes of disparities in COVID-19 cases through integration

and analysis of data on health, demographic, education and economic of different communities using data science

and AI/Machine learning

2
Project Objectives

· To integrate data of Virginia Covid-19 from diverse sources to analysis the data.

· To provide real-time visualizations on the information pertaining to Covid-19 and specify

variables like education, demographics, and the likes.

· To discover the trends and patterns of the causes of disparities among people of Virginia.

· To provide forecast about the disparities amongst the people of Virginia as an effect of
Covid-19.

3
Project Deliverables
I. Use data  analytics system to present logical patterns and trends to the COVID-19 outbreak.

II. Ensure that functioning service is included  in the Tableau software

III. Create COVID-19 data hub that create analyses, hear from data leaders, find answers and inform

decision making.

IV. Bringing together of all services collectively in a single working environment to administer load

testing, quality of functionality, and interaction of app

V. Lastly, delivery of the final working solution. The client will perform full interaction with all the

working components.

TargetAudienceandwhattheycanexpect

- The potential users of our dashboard will be Bowie State University professors, students,
government officials, and the public.

- Users will be from a wide variety of industries like the health Sector, public sector, government
officials, and the private sector.

- Users can expect an interactive dashboard with simple yet effective visualizations to help make
sense of the causes of disparities among the people of Virginia due to Covid-19.

- The dashboard feature will be open source which will allow easy access to the information
without any restrictions.

5
Data Sources
- The Covid-19 data used for our project was sourced from the Virginia Health department.

Categorization of Data Collected
 Covid-19 Cases by Age group

 Covid-19 Cases by Race and Ethnicity

 Total number of Covid-19 cases

 Total number of Covid-19 cases in Higher education.

 Virginia poverty and Income Data.

7
Data Analysis/Cleaning
- Since the data is from one source it did not require a lot of effort being put into the cleaning.

Reason:
 The data had similar naming conventions.

 It did not have null values

Proposed Solution
- To solve this problem, the available Covid-19 data of Virginia will be analyzed and
visualized to find the hidden trends and patterns that disparities among the people.

- We sought to develop an interactive prototype that is easy to understand no matter

what one's analytical background.

- The dashboard will allow users to get insight into various variables, while allowing them
to select and deselect the variables they are interested in.

- They will also be able to drill down on the data which creates instant visualizations.

- Each visualization comes with some instructions to guide users through them.

Data Visualization and Design
Factors were taken into consideration during the development of our prototype, using Tableau Public includes:

 The Project’s purpose and audience

 Using simple yet effective diagrams

 Having an interactive dashboard

 Including filters

 Similar visualizations will be on one dashboard

Project Constraints
•Time: The time frame allocated for the development of this project is limited.

•Governance/
policy: The collection, retaining and use of data belonging to others raise privacy concerns. To gu
arantee that the data collected is used for its intended purpose only, and just accessed by authoriz
ed individuals.
•Incorrect information: The effectiveness of the model presenting the accurate trends and patterns
lies on the data received from participants. If participants do not give out accurate data, the draw
n conclusion will be flawed.

22
Conclusion/ Recommendation
- This Covid-19 project will help users in understanding disparities in Virginia.

- Our Initial developed prototype is an effort to ensure we meet our client’s expectations, giving
us the chance to receive useful feedback to product the required product for our client.
