An argumentative essay is a type of essay
written to prove your point. It is said
from both the view points of people
regarding a particular essay. The central
claim or the thesis is the main point of
the essay. An argumentative essay
should be persuasive and logical

 Choose the topic you want to write about
 Choose which side are you on (positive or
negative)
 Collect your evidence
 Presentyour argument in a sequential and logical
manner.
 Find ways to prove counterarguments to the other
person

Evidence is required

While writing your essay evidence is very important. Your evidence should

be real, logical and persuasive. Since reasons are often opinions you need

evidence to support your thesis. Your reason should be supported which

an evidence which can include:


First-hand observations
Personal experiences
Statistics
Facts and quotations from your research
Example of field research like interviews and etc

A writer needs to provide connections, interpretations and


meanings to make his/her evidences meaningful. The writer
also needs to pay attention to other person perspectives that
are aligned to key reasons and are backed by evidence by both
acknowledging and refuting them. Writers always build
argument of claims by providing reasons or statements why the
writer believes it or has added it in his argument
