 National Technology Centre for Ports, Waterways


& Coasts (NTCPWC) setup in February 2018 with
a vision to provide technological innovations and
evolution of new ideas and breakthroughs for the port,
maritime and waterways sector.

 Serve as Technology arm of Ministry of Shipping


providing the needful technological support to
Ports/Harbors of India, Inland Waterways Authority of
India (IWAI) and other institutions.

 Provide effective solutions to an extensive range of


problems being faced in the industry through scientific
support and carry out education, applied research and
technology transfer.

Next Generation Technology for Hydrometerology monitoring @ SMPK

1. The tide gauges use radar technology as part of contactless


technique and equipped with on-board data recording facility.
2. Hybrid energy design with low power consumption management
system.
3. Futuristic design sensor mounts to accommodate wide range of
Hydro-Met sensors.
4. Hybrid data buoy system with two-point innovative mooring system.
5. Preprocessing using on-board micro-computer and Internet of
Things (IoT) enabled sensing and communication.
6. Telemetry system equipped with multi-band, multi-mode
(LTE/WCDMA/GSM) and Long-Range Wireless data transmission.
7. Interoperability with external sensors and existing online systems.
8. Open Architecture Web design with Smart Dashboard display
system.
9. Near real time tidal measurements with Artificial Intelligence based
tide prediction system.
10. Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS)/GPS - controlled Tide
Gauges for precise and reliable long-term water level
measurements.

Real time Telemetry & Dashboards @ SMPK


 Realtime precise water surface elevation was measured with Radar
based Automatic Tide Gauges.
 Raw sensor data fused and calibrated to Geoidal reference (WGS
84) and precise atmospheric pressure derived altitude.
 Live Weather data streaming include wind velocity, wind direction,
solar irradiation, ambient temperature, etc by In-house Marine IoT
system and Gateway
 LTE/ WCDMA /GSM and Long Range RF link

ONLINE DREDGING MONITORING SYSTEM


 The system takes advantage of Internet mapping
and web-services technology to enable the
visualization of dredging monitoring data online.

 The capabilities of the system include:


 Data upload of PMC officer on Draught and
loading monitor (DLM) and Daily Dredging
Report (DDR).
 The pre and post dredging survey details
upon post processing will be uploaded to the
system.
 Visualization of daily, monthly progress.
 Dredger performance and downtime
monitoring
 Location track data with snapshot on loading,

IMPLEMENTATION OF INDIGENOUS SMART DOCKING AID – LASER GUIDED
SYSTEM FOR SAFE BERTHING

 Smart Docking Aid:


 Laser berthing aid system is used for vessel
berthing and docking, which ensure the
vessel to be safely berthed.

 Two laser sensors installed on the jetty


continuously measure the distance between
the jetty and vessel and calculate the vessel
approach speed and angle.
