What is Group ?
GROUP

“A group can be defined as two or more


interacting and interdependent
individuals who come together to achieve particular objectives.”
There are two types of Groups an individual forms

Formal Informal
FORMAL GROUP
The Formal Groups are established by an Organization to achieve its
goals.

Purpose:-
 Accomplishing a predefined task.
 Creating synergy among the activities of individuals.
 Facilitating the proper decision making.
 Expanding knowledge, new information & skills.
 Creating social affiliation.

Command Groups Task Groups

Command Groups
It is a group consisting of individual who report directly to the manager.
 Formalized to the manager.

 Training Group
 CEO
Task Groups
 Task Groups has one specific task to accomplish and it is clearly and
specifically defined.
 Effective Task groups work cooperatively, Not competitively.

Example
 Staff department Groups
 Mailing a letter.
INFORMAL GROUP
• These groups are formed by individual
• In these type of group there is no special purpose
Informal Groups

Interest Groups Friendship Groups

Interest Groups :- It is is formed by according to individual interest.


Example – Painting Groups.

Friendship Groups :- Friendship Group is evidence base group work
