EFFECT
• Society
• Economy
• Environment
Society
• Soil which is not highly polluted can still be harmful to human through
bioaccumulation.
• Humans who eat plants or animals that have accumulated large amounts
of soil pollutants may be poisoned.
• Heavy metals in soil can cause irreversible developmental damage in
children.
• Mercury and lead will cause neurological problems by damaging a
developing brain of the children.
Economy

• Nitrate and phosphorus from agriculture will cause algae bloom in the river and lake.
• Tourism industry will be affected as most of the beautiful natural recreation
destination is polluted by algae bloom.
• Unpleasant sight and odor of algal blooms cause tourists to ‘run away’.
• Commercial fishing industry will also be affected as fishes are killed.
• Overused of chemical fertilizer and pesticide will cause loss of fertile land for
agriculture activities.
Environment
• More toxic compounds soil contains, the greater the air pollution it
creates.
• Water pollution can also happen if toxic chemicals leach into groundwater.
• Life of aquatic organism will be harmed by the presence of chemical
pollutants.
• Acidic soil will harm microorganism that live in soil.
• Nitrate and phosphorus can leach into waterways, causing algal blooms,
resulting in the death of aquatic plants due to depleted dissolved oxygen.
Opinion
1. Better Understanding
• Identify and avoid any chemical or substances that will cause pollution to
the soil.
• Advertise more about soil pollution prevention to the citizen through
internet or TV.
• Educate the young generation about the cause and the effect of the soil
pollution
2) Proper Management
• Prevent any use of chemical fertilizer and pesticide to the crops.
• Don't allow the runoff directly to the watercourse.
• Don't employ any agricultural contractor or company involved in spreading
organic waste to land.
• Don't hesitate to get involved in catchment partnerships to address diffuse
agricultural pollution.

3) Reforestation
• Trees should be planted along the edges of a agriculture field.
• Act as filter nutrients before allowing the nutrient to leach into groundwater.
• Sustainable forestry or logging is crucial to saving the soil from pollution
Reflection
• Agriculture cause soil pollution which then lead to other pollution.
• Eutrophication is happened when inorganic chemical like nitrate leach
into the ground.
• Phosphorus from animal manure also enrich the blooming of algae.
• Nutrient runoff not only affect the society but also economy and
environment.
• Reducing the use of pesticide and fertilizer can decrease the soil pollution.
Reflection
• Eutrophication can cause animal extinction if not properly treated.
• Sustainable diets can actually help in reducing the demand on food
production from agriculture.
• Establishing protection zones along surface watercourses can minimize
the pollution cause by agriculture.
