What is InDriver?
• InDriver is the world's fastest-growing online ride-hailing service.
• The app has been downloaded over 145 million times, making it the
world's second most used ride-hailing app.
• The user defines a fare for the ride and can select the driver.
inDriver operates as a mobile taxi service where the passengers and
drivers can negotiate the fare.
How it works?
• To request a ride, the user specifies the starting point and destination
address of the ride, the price they are willing to pay and if they have
any comments for the driver. Drivers can make a counter-offer to the
price offered by the passenger.
Technology Innovation
• The company’s chief innovation is its P2P-based RTD (Real Time Deals) model.
With this model, drivers and passengers mutually agree on the conditions of rides
and that includes their costs.
• Tableau Software helps users create different charts, graphs, maps, dashboards,
and stories for visualizing and analyzing data, to help in making business decisions.
•Google maps platform for integration of quality maps, accurate route calculation,
journey time estimates assistance with addresses, and more.
Sources of Innovation
• Customers’ needs
• The app was developed by INDRIVERRU LTD, it was originally
developed on the Russian social network VK in 2012 in Yakutsk,
Siberia based on a student initiative to counteract unaffordable taxi
prices. The app is available now in more than 31 countries among
them Pakistan, Russia, India, and Kazakhstan.
• Sustaining innovation- when a company creates better performing
products than the existing in the market.
Evolution
• The service originated when a group of local students established a
collective group of "independent drivers" (i.e. inDrivers) on social
media in response to a sharp increase in taxi prices.
• Members of the group shared where they wanted to go and the
prices they were willing to pay, allowing drivers to in turn contact
these customers and negotiate prices.
• One year later, the group moved to the Sinet Company which created
a peer-to-peer transportation-based system based on this concept.
• Later on an app was officially launched in 2013
Additional Services provided
• During the pandemic, indriver launched its “Medical worker on the
way” program to help health care workers around the world get to
and from work.
• Indriver also offers additional services through its app including
courier services, cargo or freight delivery and intercity transportation.
Technology push vs Market pull innovation
• Indriver is a market pull innovation.
• Even though there were alternative ride-hailing services available,
they had high costs and did not allow clients to negotiate with the
drivers.
• Indriver decided to take advantage of the situation by launching a
platform that provided rides at more affordable and flexible rates.
Why did we choose this business?

• We chose this business because among the competitors it was

fulfilling the customer needs the best.
• The app had a user-friendly interface.
