Project ‘Library’: About

 An initiative by volunteers to set up a library for Samarthanam residential School in


HSR Layout
 Currently, the school does not have a library. While the new building (where the
proposed library is nearing completion), a library in the old school premises is
required
 Number of students: 150 (approx). Of these around 25% students are disabled. The
remainder of the students are from underprivileged background and also consists
of kids rescued from streets and remand homes
 Impact : Inculcating a habit of reading in these children can help uplift them and
also open up their minds
Project ‘Library’: Project Plan

 Project to be executed with the help of Hippocampus Reading Foundation

 Expected to have a minimum of 80 books, both in English and in Kannada

 Teachers to avail training to understand how to raise the interest in students to read
and also to conduct various activities during the library hour
 Need of the hour: Funds for the kit to be purchased from Hippocampus and the
teacher’s training fee to be paid to them
 Project so far: Collected a book shelf and around 25 books for the library
