Summary/Highlights.

 Firm was establish 12 year ago and there are 5 partners.


 Raw materials are import from India as well as main designer in also India.
 Target market is main city of Nepal and India also.
 CEO Mr. Ganesh Jha but no any department heads.
 All areas of department is handled by Mr Subash Thapa.
 All information are kept by Mr. Thapa.
 No exercise of division of work, no proper utilization of equipments and
resource, centralization of authority but no any responsibility, customers orders are
not fulfill, wrong delivery of goods etc.
A) I. What major problem areas can you identify in this case?

Major Problem areas:


Lack of participation in decision making.
Low salary paid to Mr Subash who is bearing overall responsibility of the organization.
No proper organization structure; lack of departmental heads/ Managers.
Mr Ganesh Jha the General Manager is not responsible for anything.
Lack of leadership and coordinating role of Mr Jha.
Lack of proper HR planning( Office Assistant getting departmental responsibility).
Lack of Management practices like motivating, communicating, supervising and controlling.
Dissatisfied employees and customers.
II. What can be the probable causes for conflict between
Mr. Thapa and other employees?

Lack of well-defined authority, responsibility, and


accountability.
Agency problem( i.e. idle equipment, not timely delivery of
goods, taking time for information. 
Centralization of power by Mr Subash Thapa.
Internal conflict/ dissatisfied employees to Mr Thapa.
Do you find violation of Principle of
Management in the company? Justify.
No divison of labor
    Justification- No presence of department heads.
                      - Mr. Thapa supervises all departments.
Undefined authority responsibility and accountability
    Justification- No one has been neither pin pointed nor punished for delay in delivery, idle
    equipment, time taken for locating information etc.     
 Lack of proper scalar chain.
     Justification- Employees do not have direct reporting system.

Lack of coordination
     Justification- Information is not available in time.
                       - Delay in delivery, wrong delivery of the product.
                        - Idle equipment in office, etc.
Lack of MIS/DSS
    Justification- Difficulty in obtaining or collecting information. 
                       - No one is responsible about information.
Do you find any evidence of decentralized
management authority?
 No. There is no any evidence of decentralized management authority rather it
seems that Mr. Subash Thapa has centralized power/decision.
 Justification: 
o  He supervises manufacturing, finance and marketing. He maintains own filing,
secretarial, mailing and production function.
o  All the decisions regarding purchasing, receiving, storing etc are controlled by
Mr. Thapa.                                     
Continued..... Whether the problems are
located to decentralization of authority?
Yes, decentralization seems to be one of the solution to the problem. 
  Justification: 
  Involvement of employees in decision making can be ensured in the
ground that employees are continuously complaining that Mr. Subash
Thapa doesn't consult them.
 Delegate power, authority that make more responsible to the
employees as well as they are participate in major organizational
activities so they might perform better than past.
Suggest appropriate organizational structure to the
General Manager of the company to overcome
existing problems.
 Line and staff organization structure is suitable structure to solve current
problems.
 Formation of various departments and appointment of suitable department
head is also one of the solution of existing problems.
 Defining the exact authority, responsibility and
accountability of Chief Executive( Mr. Ganesh Jha) and department heads is
also one of the solution of existing problems.
