Raw materials are import from India as well as main designer in also India. Target market is main city of Nepal and India also. CEO Mr. Ganesh Jha but no any department heads. All areas of department is handled by Mr Subash Thapa. All information are kept by Mr. Thapa. No exercise of division of work, no proper utilization of equipments and resource, centralization of authority but no any responsibility, customers orders are not fulfill, wrong delivery of goods etc. A) I. What major problem areas can you identify in this case?
Major Problem areas:
Lack of participation in decision making. Low salary paid to Mr Subash who is bearing overall responsibility of the organization. No proper organization structure; lack of departmental heads/ Managers. Mr Ganesh Jha the General Manager is not responsible for anything. Lack of leadership and coordinating role of Mr Jha. Lack of proper HR planning( Office Assistant getting departmental responsibility). Lack of Management practices like motivating, communicating, supervising and controlling. Dissatisfied employees and customers. II. What can be the probable causes for conflict between Mr. Thapa and other employees?
Lack of well-defined authority, responsibility, and
accountability. Agency problem( i.e. idle equipment, not timely delivery of goods, taking time for information. Centralization of power by Mr Subash Thapa. Justification: Involvement of employees in decision making can be ensured in the ground that employees are continuously complaining that Mr. Subash Thapa doesn't consult them. Delegate power, authority that make more responsible to the employees as well as they are participate in major organizational activities so they might perform better than past. Suggest appropriate organizational structure to the General Manager of the company to overcome existing problems. Line and staff organization structure is suitable structure to solve current problems. Formation of various departments and appointment of suitable department head is also one of the solution of existing problems.
