The intervention Option that will be recomended to
Development Program : Option 2

• Option 2 : Partner with Private Seed Companies and support them to

Produce and Sell high yielding rice seeds.
The reason :
1. High yielding rice seeds currently has insufficient availability, by
partnering with private seed companies, will make seeds become
everywhere and easy to get.
2. Most Indonesia’s farmers have limited knowledge of better and newer
rice seeds. Using this partnership we will bring a knowledge to the
farmers for better rice varieties that’s will improve their productivity
3. Compared to option 1,
– I don’t agree give something in free, because usually after the program is stopped
then the using of the high yield rice seed will stopped too.
– And the fact that young farmers in Indonesia is only 8 % population of the farmers. it
won’t be affected abroadly
The Intervention Methods :

1. Partnership in Promotion for high yielding rice seeds to the farmers in

every activities at rural Area, like : Product Introduction, establish
Workshop, Others Testimonial, etc.
2. Mapping the rice seeds distributors and support to promote the high
yield rice seeds
3. Give a special relief program and dispensation payment for high yield
rice seed
4. Create Demplot, by rent a field that will be planted a high yield rice seed
and we pay the workers to upkeep it until it harvested. It will be become
a massive example for the surrounding.
5. Partnering with agriculture facilitator, from private sector or from GOI to
give mentoring and coaching to farmers when using high yield rice
seeds
The role of GOI to increasing the uptake of high- yielding rice seed

The GOI should have 2 policies :

1. Give price subsidy for high-yielding rice seeds, and make the price become
affordable to farmers of Indonesia, and it will make the availability of high
yielding rice seeds is rising.
2. Give regulation to reduce the availability of the older varieties gradually in
targeted time, for example in 2 years, especially from the free seeds
program. And change it into the high yielding rice seeds.
This will change the culture of Indonesia’ farmers choose the seeds,

Same case in change culture of Indonesia’ people when use the stove, from
kerosene stove to LPG stove. GOI reduce and make burden to get the
kerosene and in other side, rise the avaibility of LPG stove and the LPG supply.
