Introduction
Conflict is a form of interaction among parties that
differ in interests, perceptions and preferences.
Conflict begins when one party perceives that the
other has negatively affected, or is about to
negatively affect, something that he or she cares
about.
According to Gray and Strake - " Conflict is
behaviour by a person or group that is purposely
designed
Conflict resolution process
1. Recognition by the parties involved that a problem
exists.
2. Mutual agreement to adress the issue and find
some resolution.
3. An effort to understand the perspective and
concern of the opposing individual or group.
4. Identifying changes I attitude, behaviour and
approaches to work by both sides that will lessen
negative feelings.
5. Recognising triggers to episodes of conflict.
6. Interventions by third parties such as a human
resources representative or higher level manager
to mediate
7.A willingness by one or both parties to compromise.
8. Agreement on a plan to adress difference.
9. Monitoring the impact of any agreements for
change.
10. Disciplining or terminating employees who resist
effortS to defuse conflict.
