Assessment 2 – The report
• Due: Sunday, 13th September, 2020 by 10 pm
• Word count: 1800 words (+/-10%)
• The purpose of this assessment is for students to use their analytical skills to apply
concepts, and theories to a case study. The concepts and theories applied to the case
study must be drawn from MGMT501. Students should imagine that they have been
appointed as an advisor to analyse the business below from the Undercover Boss (UCB)
TV Series:
• Choose one episode from the two undercover boss videos below:

• Please note – your report will be for either one of the businesses above
Assessment 2 – The report
1)  Write a report that:
a)  Identifies and describes the organisational culture of the business chosen
b)  Analyses leadership approaches observed in the business
c)  Evaluates how managers or the organisation motivates employees
d)  Analyses ONE issue, problem or conflict to be resolved in the business and
identifies options for solution
e)  Identifies ONE significant strength of the business and applies theories to
evaluate why it is a strength
2)  Make recommendations from your evaluations above and compare
with undercover boss’s recommendation
Sections of the Undercover Boss Report
• Executive summary (Write last – summary of your key findings from the body of the report)
• Introduction (Provides a road map for the reader )
• Body of the report

- Recommendations & compare your recommendations with UCB
• Reference list (approx. 8 credible and authoritative sources) – see marking criteria

Marking Criteria

Report
• Recommended font is Times New Roman or Arial in 12 point
• Use 1.5 line spacing
• Include your name and/or ID number on every page as a header or footer
• Number your pages
• Use spell check to help with the accuracy of your spelling
• Use the grammar check as an aid in editing your assessments for
readability and correct word usage
• References must be acknowledged using APA 7th edition referencing style

Assessment 2 - submission to Turnitin
• Name your word document file [.doc or .docx]: Last name first name
ID (Lname Fname 123456.docx)
• You need to submit your assessment to Turnitin through AUT online.
• Go to Assessments > Assessment 2 > click on 'View/Complete.
Late Penalty
• The penalty for late submission will be a reduction by 5% or
one grade (e.g. B+ to B) per day up to a maximum of five days.
• An assessment item will not be marked if it is more than five
days late.
• Note: late penalties apply even if your assessment is 1 minute
late
