Utopia vs.

Dystopia

A Utopia is an imagined place or state of things in


which everything is perfect.
The word utopia comes from the Greek word ou-topos
which translates to ‘no place’ or ‘nowhere’. Ou means
no and topos means place.
Eutopia is pronounced the same as Utopia and eu
means “good” or “well” therefore eutopia means
“good place”.
Since there is no perfect place, the double meaning is
Utopia vs. Dystopia

Dystopia is the opposite of Utopia.


Dys means ‘bad’, so a Dystopia is a bad place.
A dystopian society is an imaginary place where people
are unhappy and usually afraid because they are not
treated fairly. It is usually ruled by a person who the
citizens love because they see no other choice. This is the
antagonist.
The protagonist is a character who rebels against the ruler
and the society and is looking for a way out.
