Social institutions involve education the family religion and the justice system.

These are all based on organizing ideas about how the key areas of social life

Social Organization
• A social organization is a pattern of relationships between and among individuals and

social groups. Social organizations are formed based on common interests and

conversations; examples of social organizations are book clubs sports teams etc. With

these examples, you may observe that they all are working towards a common goal

and work together for the completion and success of that goal( Social

organization,2001).

Theory)
• After emancipation independence, theorists such as T. S. Smith (2004)

saw the nuclear family are the most effective family within society for

raising children under other forms of our family as being dysfunctional(

Pre-Colonial Education
• Before slavery had occurred depending upon your ethnicity there was some
amount of informal forms of education occurring
• boys being trained to become warriors on what was best for the tribes and girls to
clean, care for the family, etc(Africans and Amerindians).
• Boys being trained in mathematics, art, and languages and girls as obedient
individuals to their husbands(Europeans and Chinese).
• There was also the passing down of ancestral knowledge(Mohammed,2015).

20XX presentation title 25
Conflict Theory
• Because of slavery, therefore, considered to be at the bottom of the social ladder and

education was the only way to move upwards

• call Marx’s theory stated that the bourgeoisie, the capitalists who own the means of

production, and a much larger proletariat(or working class ) must sell their labor power

• Marx believed that when the proletariat family understood the power they had things would

change( Mohammed,2015)

Education
• Every ethnic group had its form of the education system, but after slavery, there was

one main form of education where persons were expected to attend school to get a

formal education. This practice disallowed cultural retention to occur and in some

schools, the Christian religion was taught. In the other schools, there was no form of

religion because they “respected the children's and their families

beliefs”( Mohammed,2015)
