ABOUT ECUADOR
Ecuador is a country in South America’s west coast. It has a land
area of 283,560 km². The capital of Ecuador is Quito which is
located in the centre of the country. The languages spoken in
Ecuador are Spanish and a local language called Quechua, and
the life expectancy in Ecuador is 77.2 years. Ecuador is bordered
by Colombia to the North, Peru to the East and South and the
Pacific Ocean to the West.

In Ecuador, a number of
festivals are celebrated,
including the Inti Raymi,
a traditional religious

•Bolon de Verde is
considered the national dish
of Ecuador. Bolon de Verde
is essentially green plantain
fritters, filled with meats
such as pork and cheese.

With the help of Ecuador’s skilled players, Ecuador has qualified for the
world cup four times before the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Their national
football team consists of known names such as Antonio Valencia, Enner
Valencia and Piero Hincapie.

The main languages spoken in


Ecuador are Quechua and
Spanish. The language Quechua
originated among the Indigenous
people in Peru. The phrase
‘Allianchu’ (Eye-ee-anch-ooo)
means “Hello” and “How are
you?” in Quechua.
