Dynamic
A dynamic IP address is an IP address that an ISP lets you use temporarily. If a
dynamic address is not in use, it can be automatically assigned to a different device

Static IP Addresses
If your computer is hosting a web server, its IP address is what identifies it to the
rest of the Internet. A computer on the Internet can have a static IP address, which
means it stays the same over time, or a dynamic IP address, which means the
address can change over time.

Private IP Address
Is the address your network router assigns to your device. Each device within the
same network is assigned a unique private IP address (sometimes called a private
network address) — this is how devices on the same internal network talk to each
other.

Public IP Address
The unique, Internet-facing IP address assigned to your device by your ISP. A public
address means it can be reached through the Internet.

VPN
A VPN, or Virtual Private Network, routes all of your internet activity through a
secure, encrypted connection, which prevents others from seeing what you're doing
online and from where you're doing it. Basically, a VPN provides an extra layer of
security and privacy for all of your online activities.

What is the purpose of a VPN?

The main purpose of a VPN is to hide your online activity. VPNs are often used to
guard against hackers and snoops on public networks, but they're also useful for
hiding your IP address, browsing activity, and personal data on any Wi-Fi network

What does a VPN do?

VPNs hide your IP address behind a different IP address (often in another part of the
world) provided by the VPN server. VPNs work by adding a layer of encryption to the
data that passes through your internet connection. There are many benefits of using
a VPN - VPNs let you:
1. Encrypt your internet connection.
2. Secure your data over public Wi-Fi networks.
3. Stream freely and get around location-based content blocks.
4. Access blocked websites.
5. Avoid internet censorship.
6. Evade ISP tracking.
7. Prevent price discrimination.

3 Main Types of VPN

VPNs can be divided into three main categories –

Remote access - enables users who are working remotely to securely access and
use applications and data that reside in the corporate data center and headquarters,
encrypting all traffic the users send and receive.

Intranet-based site-to-site - created between an organization's propriety networks

Extranet-based site-to-site - used for connecting with external partner networks or an

intranet.

The connection in a site-to-site VPN is generally enabled through a VPN gateway

device.

Individual users are most likely to encounter remote access VPNs, whereas big
businesses often implement site-to-site VPNs for corporate purposes.
