PHYSICS HOLIDAY HOMEWORK

You are informed that in this year CBSE also

included Investigatory Project (individually searched)
in Physics. So you can search your project from Google
and any other sources and make a Rough content.
Project should be of the level of 12 th standard and
related to CBSE syllabus.
Project Content should be prepared on A4 Size sheet
and in proper way.
Project can be made as Working Model also.
Project File contains at least 15 pages.
First five page are common for every students
First Four Pages are as
1) Front page(e.g., Physics Investigatory project, session 2022-23,Submitted to, Submitted by)
2) Name of Project
3) Certificate
4) Acknowledgment

Write one experiment in your Experiment Practical

File as given in PDF
Write Three Activities in your Activity File as given
in PDF
Complete your pending class work of chapter 1 and
2
All File work should be neat and clean and
according to the PDF given to you.
Readings and Graph should be yours, do not copy
this from PDF
Assignement No. -: [1]
1) Write SI unit of (i) electric field intensity and (ii)
electric dipole.
2) What is the electric flux through a cube of side 1
cm which encloses an electric dipole?
3) In which orientation, a dipole placed in a uniform
electric fields is in (i) stable, (ii) unstable
equilibrium
4) Why do the electrostatic lines not form closed
loops?
5) An electric dipole of dipole moment C is enclosed
by closed surface. What is the net electric flux
coming out of this surface?
5) Figure shows three point charges, +2q, -q and +3q.
Two charges +2q and -q are enclosed within a
surface ‘S’. What is the electric flux due to this
configuration through the surface ‘S’?

6) A metallic sphere is placed in a uniform electric

field as shown in the figure. Which path is followed
by electric field lines and why?

7) Two protons are brought nearer; what will be the

effect on potential energy of system?
8) Two small identical electrical dipoles AB and CD,
each of dipole moment 'p' are kept at an angle of 120°
as shown in the figure. What is the resultant dipole
moment of this combination? If this system is
subjected to electric filed (E) directed along +X
direction, what will be the magnitude and direction of
the torque acting on this.
9) Plot a graph showing the variation of Coulomb
force (F) versus where r is the distance between the
two charges of each pair of charges: (1 µC, 2 µC) and
(2 µC – 3 µC). Interpret the graphs obtained.
10) A parallel plate capacitor is charged by a
battery. After sometime the battery is disconnected
and a dielectric slab with its thickness equal to the
plate separation is inserted between the plates.
How will
a) the capacitance of the capacitor,
b) potential difference between the plates and
c) the energy stored in the capacitor be affected?
Justify your answer in each case
Assignement No. :-[2]
1) Two capacitors of unknown capacitances and are
connected first in series and then in parallel across a
battery of 100 V. If the energy stored in the two
combinations is 0.045 J and 0.25 J respectively,
determine the value of . Also calculate the charge on
each capacitor in parallel combination.
2) An electric dipole of length 4 cm, when placed
with its axis making an angle of 60° with a uniform
electric field, experiences a torque of Nm. Calculate
the potential energy of the dipole, if it has charge ±8
nC.
3) Derive an expression of Capacitance of capacitor
when a dielectric slab of dielectric constant K of
thickness t is inserted inbetween two plates of
capacitor.
4) A slab of material of dielectric constant K has the
same area as the plates of a parallel-plate capacitor
but has a thickness (1/4)d, where d is the separation of
the plates. How is the capacitance changed when the
slab is inserted between the plates?
5) A bird perches on a bare high power line, and
nothing happens to the bird. A man standing on the
ground touches the same line and gets a fatal shock.
Why?
6) State Gauss's theorem in electrostatics. Using this
theorem, derive an expression for the electric field
intensity due to an infinitely long, straight wire of
linear charge density λ C/m.
7) An electric dipole is placed in uniform external
electric field E. Show that the torque on the dipole is
given by T=PEsin(thetha)where P is the dipole
moment of the dipole. What is the net force
experienced by the dipole? Identify two pairs of
perpendicular vectors in the expression.
8) Obtain the expression for the potential due to a
electric dipole at a distance r from the centre of
dipole.
10) Define drift velocity and obtain an expression for
the drift velocity and hence establish the relation
between current and drift velocity.
