Why Nestorius, Apollinarius and Eutyches

were considered herectics?

What was their conception of the person and

nature of Jesus that the Early Church
rejected?

What is the significance of our faith claim that

Jesus is both fully divine and fully human?
Apollinarius, Nestorius, and Euthycus were considered

heretics because they had claimed some sort of

erroneous or unsound definition of the Person and

Nature of Jesus Christ.

The early church: particularly the council of Chalcedon
451: was a very successful meeting. In this event the
Creed of Nicea was approved, which affirms the full
divinity and the full humanity of Jesus Christ.

(Among many significance – The Salvific
Truth)
What has been assumed by the eternal
word/divine logos as the underlying person in the
mystery of Jesus Christ has been saved – That is
Jesus Christ bringing into God’s world the
humanity that he has assumed, the transformed
or glorified human nature.
