How to Conduct Reading Class

Grades 7-12
1.Language teachers will give the list of non-readers to the
class advisers.

English Filipino
Grade 7 – Namit and Magdale Carabal and Burlat
Grade 8 – Jumawan and Lobino Lacia and Tumampos
Grade 9 – Mejares and Bacalso Mutia and Omega
Grade 10 – Tercera and Bullifer Panganiban and Caigan
Grade 11 – Aranjuez Junio
Grade 12 – Casiño
2. During the reading session, these non
readers will be taught by the advisers
with the lessons (provided by the
language teacher) like that of newly
created section. However, the rest of
the students will read a story. Copies of
the stories will be provided by the
language teachers.
3. Language teachers
will pair off students. A
student who knows how
to read will be paired
with a slow reader.
During the reading session, (First day - Tuesday)
all students will read silently the assigned
English story. After that, the slow reader (Reader
A) will read orally while his/her partner (Reader
B), who knows how to read, will listen and write
down the word/s that is/are wrongly read in the
English notebook of Reader A that serves as his
assignment. Those words will be read repeatedly
the following day by Reader A with the help of
Reader B.
5. On the second day (Wednesday),
there will be a review of the wrongly read
words. After the review, the students
will read the story again and answer the
questions. They will write their answers
on their English notebooks. Checking of
the answers will follow.
6. Filipino reading session is
scheduled on Thursdays and
Fridays. The same procedure will be
done.
7. Language teachers will give
sheets of tracking records of the
non readers.

For poor readers
1. Teacher calls up a poor reader and sits
beside her.
2. Start teaching reading using the materials
provided by the language teacher.
3. Do it repeatedly.
