Located in the heart of Hamilton, New Zealand, this redevelopment
transformed an old run-down site into a green, resilient Grade-A commercial
office space for Genesis Energy.
Genesis Energy needed a new home that would bring together 600+ staff
spread across different offices in Hamilton CBD. And they wanted to re-use an
existing site in a cost-effective, sustainable way.
Once an old supermarket, the redevelopment converted two storeys of retail
space into new offices and an indoor carpark with electric vehicle charging
points. An additional three-stories building was added next to the existing
building, providing further office space, a café and central amenities.
The building services design for the project includes integrated energy-
efficient heating and cooling, ventilation, power and lighting systems, and a
standby (Generator) power system which are flexible for future expansion.
The mechanical ventilation system uses efficient direct expansion (DX) heating
and cooling of outdoor air. The volume of air is CO 2 controlled to a variable
speed fan to reduce energy use even further. To minimize heat loss out the
foyer door, an air curtain system was also installed.
An air cooled chiller provides chilled water to cool the spaces with a variable
flow pump that adjusts to maximize efficiency.
With the building hosting a new remote control room for some of Genesis
Energy’s power stations, a generator backed-up power supply was critical to
ensure the building will remain operational in a power-outage or emergency.
The electrical infrastructure was designed to accommodate a secondary
standby generator in event of the primary generator failing to start.
Now together in the heart of Hamilton, Genesis Energy staff can enjoy a
vibrant new workspace and the surrounding services and facilities of the
central CBD.

The Works comprise of the construction, completion
and remedying of defects of ABC Building on the same Package & WP
campus. The scope of the works comprises of all
aspects of construction including foundations, civil,
MEP and external works including construction, any
work required by authorities (SCECO rooms, Mechanical Work
Electrical
transformers, Civil Defense requirements, connections, Package Package Packages
pumps, lift stations, Ministry of Water requirements,
etc.), testing and commissioning, authority approvals
and requirements of third party testing and
commissioning, completion, remedying of any defects

 100% Excavation work completed on 20 Aug 19, and the work moved to piles execution
on 21 Aug 19
 Piles Execution has completed 100% on 11 Nov 19. 1050 Pile achieved within 90 days
 In 12 No 19, the structural Skelton works have been started, and up to date, the progress
of the structure works recorded 100% work done in phase 1. Structure works for phase
2
recorded 85%. The structure works for annex building still under progress with about
25% Achievement.
 30,000 m3 Concrete has been casted & 3000 Tone of steel rebar have been
fixed and assembled.
 Block works started on 10 Jan 20 and 97% completed up to date
 Water Proofing Activities are running in parallel with the concrete works. For foundation , it
is estimated that 95% of the WP works are completed.
 Electrical works started on 16 Jan 20 in phase 1, the work started by installing the
conduits and cable tray for in the ground floor, and the work achieved up to date is almost
95% in phase 1.
 Electrical Work has reached to the stage of installing cables and wires in phase 1 & 2 with
progress achievement reached up to 25%
 Mechanical works started on 20 Jan 20 by installing the Water Supply and drainage
pipes which reached up to 76% in phase 1 & 22% in phase 2
 HVAC work started on 23 Jan 2020 in phase 1 with 33% completed up to date. Phase 2
recorded 15% in ground floor..
