    The rise of new Great Powers like the US, Germany, and Japan in the late 19th century altered the international system and led to increased tensions before WWI. These nations industrialized rapidly, built strong militaries, and expanded their economic and political influence globally. While the US focused on its influence in the Americas and Germany and Japan allied with each other and other European nations, all three Great Powers competed for territory, trade, and military supremacy.
