Concept Of learning environment Two main components: i. Physical component includes all physical settings such as classroom, teaching aids and facilities inside & outside the classroom. ii.Psychosocial component includes safety, cleanliness, healthy and other humanity elements.

Bronfenbrenners ecological theory


Focuses

on the influence of people and environment in which children live and contact with. Consists of FIVE environmental systems: i. Microsystem ii.Mesosystem iii.Exosystem iv.Macrosystem v.Chronosystem

Microsystem
Refers

to a setting in which children interact with parents, peers, teachers at home, school and their surrounding.

MESOSYSTEM
Linkage

between microsystems such as family and school, family and peers, an so on. According to Bronfenbrenner, pupils who were given positive interaction and communication in the mesosystem showed better performance in class.

exosystem
External

setting in which the pupils do not play an active role, but they are indirectly influenced by the result of the roles played by the communities.

macrosystem
Refers

to a setting that involves cultural influence. Influencing factors are: i. Gender ii.Ethnicity iii.Custom iv.Values v.Socioeconomic status

chronosystem
Focuses

on sociohistorical conditions and events that influence childrens development.
