• Introduction
• R. C. Patel Institute of Technology, Shirpur (RCPIT) which has been accredited
Autonomous by UGC in 2020.
• R. C. Patel Institute of Technology, Shirpur (RCPIT) which has been accredited by
NAAC with ‘A’ grade (3.18/4.0) in 2017, was established in June 2001 (with Intake
capacity 180) under the umbrella of The Shirpur Education Society, Shirpur and the
visionary leadership of Shri. Amrishbhai Patel (President, SES, Shirpur; President,
SVKM, Mumbai; Chancellor, NMIMS University).
• RCPIT, Shirpur, is surrounded by many challenges such as students belonging to tribal
area, economically low-income groups, and first generation learners, mixed inputs of
talent dispersion and family background and occupation.
• Employability Development Program

• The focus of RCPIT is to make the candidate employable by its soft skill
development throughout all semesters at no cost to the students.
• To enhance technical skills, around 15-20 add-on courses are provided by reputed
training organizations.
• Due to which, the placements reached to 95% in 2021-22.

and faculty through its Facebook page with almost 12000+ followers and LinkedIn

• Institute has various student clubs, like ACES, MESA, EESA, CESA etc.

• Through these students clubs, student performs various activities like; adapt the
village for making technical awareness, social awareness, tree plantation, e-banking
awareness etc.

• The Institute now has 30 fulltime faculty awarded with Ph. D.

• To overcome weakness in fundamental knowledge and soft skills, institute conducts
10 day program on basic engineering subjects like; Mathematics, Physics, English
and Chemistry.

• Innovative Teaching-Learning
• A good educational institution, therefore, must focus on the use of research-based
instructional strategies (RBIS).
• RCPIT introduced simple strategies such as using audio-visuals, think-pair-share,
formative feedback, problem-based learning and project-based learning (PBL).
• In 2021-22, 100% faculty attained successful implementations of RBIS.
• Contextual support
• The most productive method of teaching and monitoring implemented in this
institute, called – Local Guardian System wherein, a batch of students is entrusted
to a teacher for not just instruction but as much for care, parenting and counseling.
Sessional examinations are conducted periodically for the consistency in the
academic performance.

• RCPIT’s ICT based education ensures students and faculty to keep updated with
latest technology and research trends through various tie-ups/associations like;
NPTEL, CDEEP-IIT, Bombay and IIT, Kharagpur.
• On an average, 20-25 co-curricular courses are conducted per year using these
platforms.
• RCPIT has adopted Moodle-Course Management System as the teaching learning
platform.

• Institute has started offering major and minor degree along with regular B. Tech
degree from academic year 2019-20.
• Apart from the minimum Credit requirements of 160 for the award of the UG
engineering degree, these schemes provide opportunities for supplementing the
learning experience by crediting additional courses, in parent as well as in diverse
areas.
• Usage of technology in engineering education
• The entire teaching - learning environment is shifted to online platforms.

• Teachers have used online tools like Zoom/Cisco WebEx for taking online classes.

• Experiments are conducted using Virtual Lab created by llT Bombay.

• Teachers used Moodle Learning Management System (LMS) for internal assessment
of students' learning outcomes.
• The institute has conducted online Webinars, STTPs and training in different
domains.
• Instead of onsite field trips, the institute arranged virtual industry visits using
platforms like www.techfest.org by llT Bombay.
• Usage of technology in engineering education
• Alumni interactions and industry Expert lectures are conducted online for the
benefit of the students.
• The pandemic and its economic impact has affected both students and teachers
emotionally.
• The institute has arranged several online webinars and courses on Yoga, Meditation,
Self-Motivation and Development. Students, in particular, missed the social touch
and bonding due to the pandemic.
• The institute has conducted various social activities like festivals, Independence Day
celebration, Singing competitions, etc.

• Counseling programs are conducted by institute for HSC rural and tribal students.

• The institute prepared dedicated counseling teams, which visits and conducts
counseling activities at rural and tribal area and also provides technical support for
the students.
• Due to counseling programs the girl’s ratio increased from 1-2% to 3-4% in
engineering admissions in our institute.
