COMPOST ORGANIC

FERTILIZER
Characteristics of Good Composting Site

1. Cool- Bugnaw
2. Shaded area/protected from direct sunlight
3. Good drainage
4. Proximity to the source of raw materials
5. Availability to the source of water
Example of Organic Fertilizer

1. Fortified compost Fertilizer

2. Decomposed/Processed animal manure
3. Carbonized Ricehull
4. Vermicompost
5. Aerobic/Anaerobic bokashi fertilizer
Type of Decomposition Process

1. Anaerobic decomposition---this composting is without air, this process is last

for one week depending the quantity being process or the size of
materials/particles
2. Aerobic decomposition---this composting is with air, the substrate should be
in the bed let it cooled , no plastic sheet cover in the bed.
Basic Raw Materials for Composting

CARBON MATERIALS; rice straw, cornstalks, sawdust, dried weeds, dried leaves,
cow manure, Carabao manure.
NITROGEN MATERIALS; leguminous plants, green leaves, chicken dung, kitchen
waste, plant residues.
Elements/Nutrients Needed in Plants

1. Macronutrients--- examples; nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, calcium, sulfur.

2. Micronutrients--- examples; zinc, copper, iron, manganese, boron.
Important Nutrients Needed in Plants
1. Nitrogen--- para sa green dahoon/ patambok sa dahon
Source of making Nitrogen Nutrients
-Fresh/ green leaves, leguminous plants, chicken dung, kitchen waste, madre de
cacao leaves, ipil-ipil leaves.
2. Phosphorous--- para sa padagko sa gamot/ lig-on sa gamot, padaghan sa
gamot, palig-on sa punoan
Source of making Phosphorous Nutrients
-Cow manure, carabao manure, sawdust, lata nga kahoy, laya nga dahon., lata
nga bunot, uhot, dagami, seren, panit sa humay, carbonized ricehull.
3. Potassium--- para sa pabunga ug pabulak, palig-on sa sanga
Source of making Potasium Nutrients
-Banana plants, fruit waste, or panit sa prutas ug gulay
