I. OBJECTIVES
• At the end of the lesson the pupils should be able to;
1. Name different solid objects around us; and
2. Classify the solid objects based on their characteristics.
3. Pupils may draw objects representing solids.
4. Describe the different physical properties of solid objects.
5. Define what are the solid objects.
TOPIC
Matter
(Characteristics of solids)
Solids maybe described in terms of color,
size, shape, texture and weight. We use
our senses in identifying objects based on
their characteristics. We can find various
solids in our environment.
• Color- the aspect of any object that may be described in terms of hue,
lightness, and saturation.
• Shape- can be defined as the form of an object or its outline, outer boundary or
outer surface.
• Weight-is the measure of the amount of force acting on a mass due to the
acceleration due to gravity.
