Z-SCORE

Z-score indicates how


much a given value
differs from the
standard deviation.
Types of
Z-score
Positive z-score
measures the number of
standard deviations a
score is above the mean.
Negative z-score
means the number of
standard deviations a
score is below the mean.
Example 1. John got 76 marks in
his Statistics test. If the marks of
the whole class had a men of 52
and a standard deviation of 8,
what was John's standard score?
