is an umbrella term that covers the art of drawing letters,
instead of simply writing them. Lettering is considered an
art form, where each letter in a phrase or quote acts as an
illustration. Each letter is created with attention to detail
and has a unique role within a composition.
Gothic lettering is a style of lettering that is popular as a
font (or typeface) for artistic projects and other uses. It
is featured in many computer operating systems, and is a
printing option in most print shops. Gothic lettering is a "sans
serif" lettering style that is closely related to Germanic
cultures.
Roman fonts were originally based on a letterform style
from ancient Rome that became popular during the
Renaissance and continued to evolve into the classic
serif fonts of today. Many of the most enduring fonts are
roman serif fonts—the ubiquitous Times Roman is one
example
Text Letters are often referred to as Old English Text,
Church Text, Block Text, and German Text and this is
made with Style C or D speedball pen
Italics are used primarily to denote titles and
names of particular works or objects in order to
allow that title or name to stand out from the
surrounding sentence. Italics may also be used for
emphasis in writing, but only rarely.
Script fonts are beautiful typefaces that resemble
handwritten and calligraphic lettering styles. They can
either be formal where they'll appear elegant or informal
where they'll appear more playful. Script fonts can also be
connected, semi-connected or unconnected.
