Communication plan
General information
• Objective
• How to inject what type of waste, where in the pyro-line, with optimized
burning conditions
• Deliverables
• Define Combustion success criteria and waste fuel quality requirements
for proper combustion
• Compare burner characteristics & identify burner limitations
• Recommendations by waste category:
• Review of current experiences (within and outside Lafarge)
• Guidelines/Best Practices for burner adjustment
• Status
• Contribution from 10 participants from all TC + RR
• Completion: October 2004. Validation by Expertise Directors
Communication Strategy
• Target Group
• Process and production engineers
• ARM/F regional managers
• Key Messages
• Alternative fuels not different from conventional fuels
• Criteria for good combustion
• AF quality and consistency
• Burner start-up and optimization
• Get support from all departments
• Proper burner /design operation on AF
• Guidelines
• AF in burner center when possible, high impulse burner not necessary
• AF injection locations for different types of kilns
• AF substitution rates for different injection locations
Communication Program
• Presentation letter w/executive summary (December 2004)
• To plant managers / ARMF managers
• To T. Spannagl & VPM
• Distribution of full report with presentation (January 2005)
• Production/process managers
• A list of tasks to perform from TA study to be developed by each
plant
• Fuel Flexibility presentations will be given at APS and
ARMF meetings (May 2005)
• Items to be added to Vade-Mecum (January 2005)
• Good combustion criteria
• Best practice on Burner start-up procedures
• Performance Managers will follow-up at Quarterly Review
Meetings on tasks to be implemented by each plant.
