PHYSICAL
Benefits of Recreation
Recreation brings a lot of good things to life
and is considered as an important component
of a healthy life and to the whole nation not
only individually.
Our recreation pursuits reflect the values and
character of the community or the nation as a
whole.
Terms to Remember:
Recreation - is any activity that you engage
that is socially and morally acceptable, done
voluntarily during your free time.
Play - is a form of recreational activity that
offers sensual pleasures whether having a set
of regulations or just movements with
spontaneity where one can successfully
express excess energy.
Leisure Time - a block of time that is not
committed to either physiologic or social needs.
Most of your time during the day are spent
doing things needed to survive like sleeping,
eating, taking a bath, taking a nap (biological),
attending classes, doing homework, household
chores, errands, and other social duties
(subsistence). When all of these demands are
met during the day what is left for us to
consume is called recreational time (leisure).
Conceptually, recreation and play are generally
difficult to separate. For children or even
people of your age, the word play is essentially
their main recreational activity. Play is a very
powerful form of recreation as it provides a
channel where you can burn excess energy in
a socially and morally acceptable form of
activities that generates satisfaction.
The benefits are endless, recreation is an essential element of
personal development and to the community. Below are the
different benefits you can get out of recreation:
