Minerals and Resources
• One of the top ten richest mineral countries in the world.
• As per latest data published by the US Geological Survey, Peru has
8.7% of the world’s copper reserves, 3.7% of its gold, 22.6% of its
silver, 7.6% of zinc, 7.1% of lead and 3% of tin reserves
• Mineral export revenues- USD 27.2 billion (60% of country’s total
exports)
• Peru is the seventh-largest crude oil reserve holder in Central and
South America, with 741 million barrels of estimated proved
reserves(7.6 times its annual consumption), as of January 2015,
according to Oil and Gas Journal.
Modes Of Transport Available
• The Peruvian Port System has more than 100 port facilities, which are classified as marine, river
and lake ports. In spite of such port facilities, maritime commerce in Peru is mainly concentrated
on eight major coastal ports: Callao, Talara, Paita, Salaverry, Chimbote, San Martin (Pisco), Ilo
and Matarani.
• Among these ports, Callao is the most important in terms of cargo movement, since 70 per cent
of the total cargo in Peru is and discharged loaded in this port. In addition, it has positioned itself
as a regional hub, considered the most important container tran-shipment port on the west
coast of South America.
• The two Airports available for cargo are the Jorge Chavez International Airport in Lima and the
Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport in Cusco.
• Within Peru, you can mostly transport your goods by road or air. However several cities in the
Amazon region remain inaccessible by road and relies on the 8,600 km of navigable waterways
to transport their agricultural and mineral goods.

Pronunciation: Yah fwees – teh
Meaning - you’ve already lost or you’re finished
Example-
1. Imagine that you had to do a course and you had to hand
something in by May 20th. But you missed it. Your friend tells you,
‘ya fuiste’, you’re going to have to repeat the course.
2. Imagine that you’re playing FIFA with your friend you score two
goals and tell him ‘ya fuiste’, because he’s not going to win he has
already lost
