Water pollution due to industrial wastes

• Chemicals which are released from industries are toxic to aquatic life and mostly
reducing an organism’s life span and ability to reproduce.

• Globally 70% of industrial waste is dumped directly into water.

• Diseases like cholera ,diarrhoea ,dysentery ,hepatitis A, etc are caused due to this.
Waste materials thrown in water bodies

• The polluted water contains chemicals ,trash ,bacteria and parasites.

• It causes various serious health issues such as sanitation related diseases, parasitic
infections, typhoid, polio etc.

• To avoid diseases, we should maintain a good management oof lakes and rivers without
polluting them and clearing all the dirt making it germ free.
Marine plastic pollution

• Marine wildlife may suffer from lacerations, infections, reduced ability to swim, and
internal injuries.

• They mostly die as their stomachs become filled with plastics.

• Technology can be used to collect plastic from oceans and prevent from polluting it
completely.
Assam oil spill
• It occurred on May 27th ,2020, it was caused
due to machinery failure which lead to a
blowout, which is an uncontrolled release of
crude oil.

• The Dlbru river, was full of dead fishes and

the lake was covered with a thin film of oil.
Dolphins death in Mumbai
• Three dolphins were found dead
in Mumbai in year 2018 from
February to May.

• It was said that the cause of the

death was due to respiratory
infection.
Ganga pollution case
• Ganga pollution is the most significant
water pollution litigation case.

• One of the main reasons is sewage, it

contributes 75% to the pollution caused
by all sources of pollution.

• Ganga action plan is one of the

measures taken by government.
Prevention

• To prevent water pollution, technology can be used like the gadgets which detect
plastic.
• Everyone should make some efforts in cleaning in water bodies near by , and not to
pollute them.
• Wash cars or outdoor equipments where it is easy to flow to a gravel area instead of
streets.
