Implementation Methodology Approach

● The Oracle Unified Method (OUM) Implementation Approach for Oracle

Applications Cloud is their lightweight approach for implementing applications
running on a cloud infrastructure.
● It emphasizes on the out-of-the-box approach and adopts leading practices
inherent in the application products as a foundational element of the approach
● The OUM Customer Program allows customers to obtain copies of the
method for their internal use – including guidelines, templates, and tailored
work breakdown structure
Implementation Methodology Approach
● Within Oracle’s methodology approach, there are five stages that need to be
discussed. Among these five stages are:
● Project Design
● Configuration
● Validation
● Transition
● Realization

● Within each of these phases, there are several activities which need to be
completed
Implementation Methodology Approach (Project Design)

● The main activity of the Project Design phase is the planning of the project.
● However there are also several sub-activities which need to be carried out for
the planning of the project to be kick-started.
● These sub-activities include:
○ Conducting a kick-off meeting
○ Scheduling workshops
○ Conducting functional and technical design workshops
○ Conducting Design Review
● Other main activities within the Project Design Phase include:
○ Developing security and validation strategies & plans
○ Conducting Implementation Checkpoint
Implementation Methodology Approach (Configuration)

The Configuration phase consists of three main activities, which are Setting up
applications, Implementing security & Conducting implementation checkpoint

The hierarchy of the tasks within the Configuration phase is:

● Setting up applications
○ Validating configuration
○ Load & validate data
○ Build & validate integrations
○ Apply & validate extensions and extensible items
● Implementing Security
○ Prepare Cutover Strategy
● Conducting Implementation Checkpoint
Implementation Methodology Approach (Validation)

The Validation phase consists of two main activities, which are Updating setups
and Conducting Implementation Checkpoint

The hierarchy of the tasks within the Validation phase is:

● Updating Setups
○ Prepare Validation Scripts
○ Load & Validate Data
○ Conduct End-to-End Review
○ Prepare for Training
○ Conduct Train-the-Trainer Workshops
● Conducting Implementation Checkpoint
Implementation Methodology Approach (Transition)
The Transition phase consists of three main activities, which are Migrating Configuration
to Production, Migrating Integrations & Extensions to Production and Conducting
Implementation Checkpoint

The hierarchy of the tasks within the Transition phase is:

● Migrating Configuration to Production
● Migrating Integrations & Extensions to Production
○ Load, Reconcile & Validate Data in Production
○ Conduct Final Validation Review
○ Verify Production & Operational Readiness
○ Begin Production Use
● Conduct Implementation Checkpoint
Implementation Methodology Approach (Realization)

The Realization phase consists of five activities

These activities are:

● Manage Transition to Steady-state Operations
● Post Go-Live Support
● Handoff to Client Relationship Manager
● Gain Acceptance
● Close Project
