Knowledge Empowerment

 Knowledge empowerment was not

through Institutions

 Knowledge was embedded in culture

and rituals

5
How it was achieved

Books like Mahabharata, Ramayana,

Panchtantra and Hitopdesh along
with many other texts have played
an active role in enrichment of
knowledge.

6
Management Wisdom from
RAM CHARIT MANAS

KAAHU NA KAAHU SUKH DUKH KAR DAATA,

NIJ KRAT KARAM BHOG SABU BHRAATA

‘No body gives pain or pleasure, it’s our

deeds, fruits of which we reap’

7
“On being a Good Follower”
 In Forest with SAGE Vishvamitra

Prince Rama and Laxmana showed

trait of great followers, while in
custody of SAGE Vishvamitra in
fighting out the havoc created by
Rakashas ( Demons ).
8
On being a Good Follower”
 At Mithila with SAGE Vishvamitra

Despite his liking for princes Sita,

Ram took up the challenge of Lifting
the Bow of Lord Shiva, only after his
Guru and mentor SAGE Vishvamitra
commanded him to do so.

9
On being a Good Follower
Hanunamana in Lanka

The Mighty Hanumana who was assigned

the work to locate Sita, entered Lanka,
met Sita, went to the court of King Ravana
and even set Lanka on fire, but did not try
to bring Sita back to Lord Rama.

10
Motivation
Rama Motivating Sugriva to take on
Mighty Bali

Sugriva after his defeat at the hands of his

brother Bali had run away to Rishaymook
Mountain. Rama motivated him to fight a
dual with Bali by assuring him” grieve no
more, I will serve your cause everywhere
possible”.

11
COUNSELING
 Counselee should have trust in
Counselor

 Counselor should have great

lessoning skill

 Counselor should help the counselee

to find out solution to his problem
12
On Counseling
With Parshuram after the Bow of Lord
Shiva was broken
Parshuram , the Great Warrior who
annihilated Kashatriyas 21 times, was
furious and asked the court as to who had
broken the bow of Lord Shiva.

Prince Rama replied that the person who

broke the bow is his servant only
NATH SAMBHU DHANU BHANJAN HARA
HOI HAI KOI DAAS TUMHARA

13
On Counseling
Angad in the court of King Ravana for
Negotiating release of Sita

The only tip that Rama gave to Angad was

‘KAAJ HAMARU TAASU HITA HOI’.

This can be considered as best tip for

conducting negotiation meaning there by
that Ram should get back his wife and
Ravan should also get benefited.
14
Strategy to Develop an
organization
Merger and acquisition
Motivated by Prince Rama, Sugriva
Killed his brother Bali and regained
Kingdom of Kishikandha. To ensure
that loyalists of Bali should not
initiate war against Sugriva, Son of
Bali – Angad was made the Crown
Prince, resulting in Absolute Transfer
of Power to Sugriva.
15
Strategy
Search of Sita

After the exciting win of Sugriva,

Rama allowed him to settle down
and waited for the monsoon to get
over and then reminded Sugriva of
the mission to search for Sita

16
Strategy
*All options were explored as to how to take
the army across the sea.

*Nal & Neel were chosen to construct the

bridge but Ravana in his arrogance did
nothing to stop construction of the Bridge,
not realising that the destruction of Lanka
was inevitable, even if he won the battle as
Lanka was the battle ground. So

War should always be on enemy’s land

17
Strategy
Last minute negotiation with Ravana
through Angad

The greatest lesson is to be learnt at this

stage.

You have reached the enemy kingdom,

your army is ready, yet do not renounce
the path of negotiation to resolve conflict

18
Strategy
Accepting Vibhishan as an Alley

There was every possibility that Vibhishan,

who was insulted by his brother Ravana,
could have forgiven him because of his
love for his brother. And the fight between
two brother might be a plot to fool Rama
as part of their strategy.

What made Rama accept Vibhishan as his

alley despite protest from Laxman and
other senior leaders of his army ?
