ACTIVITY #15

RAMAYANA
After watching the video presentation of the literary piece: RAMAYANA
Kindly answer the following:

1. How did Sita and the other people raect to Rama's banishment? How does
this show the kind of character Rama had?

Upon knowing that the King ordered the banishment of Rama for the period of 14
years, his wife and people in Ayodhya felt great sorrow because it would be better if he
would rule the kingdom instead of Bharatha. People have known Rama as the virtuous
prince and worthy of the throne because of his good deeds and courageous acts. That's
the reason why a lot of people in Ayodhya love and adore him.

2. What was the symbolism of Rama's Sandals on the throne of Ayodia?

As Rama is still unable to return to the palace, Bharata brings Rama's sandals along
with him to the palace and places them on the throne. Bharata did it as a symbol that
Rama is the true king and not him. It also signifies the presence of his brother in the
kingdom.

3. What disrupted the peaceful life that Rama, Sita and Lakshman lived in the
forest? How did Rama respond?

The demons from Lanka disrupted the peaceful living of Rama, Sita, and Lakshman by
seducing Rama at first and then the abduction of Sita by the king of Lanka which is
Ravana. When Sita is attacked by Ravana's sister for Sita was the reason why she was
rejected, Rama immediately protects Sita and slashes off the princess demon's nose
and ears. The time when Sita was abducted by Ravana, Rama took immediate action
with Lakshman to save her by gathering an army of monkeys. After killing all the
enemies, Rama succeeded in saving Sita.

4. How did the wicked princess get her revenge on Rama and Lakshman who
both rejected her? Is revenge something that we should desire if people hurt
us? Why or Why not?

After the wicked princess got injured because of Rama, she returned to Lanka and
informed his brother, King Ravana, about her situation which makes him mad and
wants to seek revenge on behalf of his sister. He did it by abducting Sita. However,
they haven't realized that seeking revenge would cost them their lives and demise. This
is why we should not seek vengeance on the people who hurted us because it does not
bring any good at all. It doesn't make you feel better because you keep reminding
yourself of the pain instead of healing from it. Moreover, just like in the story, it could
backfire and hurt yourself more in the end. Therefore, keeping an attitude of
forgiveness brings peace and harmony.
