WBTET (West Bengal Teacher Eligibility Test)/ WBCSSC
(West Bengal Central School Service Commission)

 Primary (Class 1 to 5) - HS with 50% marks/ Graduation(no marks bar) +


D.El.Ed.+ TET qualified (Organized by the WBBPE).
 Upper Primary (Class 6 to 8) - Graduation with 50% marks + D.El.Ed +
TET qualified (Organized by the WBCSSC)
 Secondary& Higher Secondary Teacher - MA /M Sc/M com with 50%
marks + B Ed + qualifying in competitive exam (organised by the
WBCSSC).
CTET (Central Teacher Eligibility Test)

 An elimination process which selects the best candidates who are competent enough
to sit for various central teaching exams (Kendriya Vidyalay for example). Private
schools too now ask for a CTET certificate often.
 Paper 1: for teaching Classes I-V , makes you eligible for PRT exam. Eligibility to
appear for paper 1 is D.El.Ed/ B.Ed.
 Paper 2: for teaching Classes VI-VII , makes you eligible for TGT exam. Eligiblity to
appear for paper 2 is B.Ed.
 You don’t need CTET to give PGT exam as off now.
CTET and after that:

 Candidates after clearing CTET by securing a minimum of 60% in their exams will


be issued eligibility certificate. CTET qualification increases chances of
employability specially in the government sector. Thus if you have CTET certificate
you must apply in for various teachings jobs both in government and private sectors.

 The essential qualification required for PGT-Computer Science designation is


minimum 50% aggregate marks in graduation degree like B.E., B tech. (CS) or
equivalent Degree like BCA, B.Sc(CS) from recognized University of Govt. of India.
WBSSC (West Bengal Staff Selection Commission)

 Recruits candidates for government jobs in Group B and Group C posts


in various Departments and Ministries across the State of West Bengal
State.

 Skill Set: General Knowledge [History, Geography, Polity, Economics


etc.], Current Affairs, X-level Arithmetic and General English.

 Maximum age limit: 27 years (30 years in certain posts)


WBCS/ UPSC

 Recruits candidates for government jobs in state level (WBCS) and


national level (UPSC).

 Skill Set: General Knowledge [History, Geography, Polity, Economics


etc.], Current Affairs, X-level Arithmetic and General English.

 Maximum age limit: 36 years for group ‘A’ and ‘C’


PSC (Public Service Commission)

 West Bengal Civil Service (WBCS), West Bengal Judicial Service


(WBJS), West Bengal Legal Service (WBLS), West Bengal Audit and
Account Service, PSC Miscellaneous Service, School Service Assistant
Teacher and College Service Assistant Professor in Government Colleges.

 Skill Set: Various.

CSC (College Service Commission)
