INTRODUCTION

• A single-DOF spring/mass/dashpot
system that is attached to a
vibration body
• The stiffness and mass of the
absorber are designed in order to
produce an "anti-resonance" in the
total system response
• The absorber is "tuned" to match
its natural frequency with the
natural frequency of the original
system.

NEED FOR MECHATRONIC SHOCK
ABSORBER
• Conventional dampers provide stability by dissipating
vibration energy into heat.
• This method of reducing the vibrational disturbance wastes
a s i g n i f i c a n t a m o u n t o f e n e r g y.
• It has the shortage of leakage and high-speed failure.
• I n M e c h a t r o n i c s h o c k a b s o r b e r, v i b r a t i o n e n e r g y c a n b e

• Mechatronic shock absorber mainly attenuates the vibration
through the electromagnetic damping force.
• Mechatronic shock absorbers effectively attenuate vibration
and improve vehicle ride comfort

OPERATION PRINCIPLE
• The suspension vibrates up and
down due to the bumpiness of the
vehicle body
• Ball screw pair converts the
vertical movement of the nut into
the rotation of the screw shaft
• Output shaft of the bevel gear pair
is connected with the input shaft of
generator through coupling
• EM induction generator generates
electricity and stores it into the
vehicle’s rechargeable battery.

• Sobol method is a global sensitivity analysis approach based on variance.
• Can quantitatively calculate the sensitivity of corresponding parameters by
random sampling method.
• Calculate the sensitivity index of each parameter: the system is Y=f(X) , where
X=(X1, X2 …, X14).
• Sampling 2N times within the range of these 14 parameters to form a (2N, 14)
matrix
• Define matrix A as the first N rows of the matrix, matrix B as the last N rows
• AB(i) (i =1~14) as the i column of matrix A, and replace it with the i column of
matrix B
• BA(i) (i =1~14) is the i column of matrix B, which is replaced by the i column of
matrix A

to samples A, B, AB(i) and BA(i) and the expected value of the system output
value corresponding to sample A.
• First, calculate the expected value of the system output value corresponding to
sample A:

CONCLUSION
Click to edit Master title style
• Proposed the structural principle and working process of the mechatronic shock
absorber with low speed and heavy load capacity.
• Theoretical model on damping force is established, electromagnetic damping,
mechanical damping and inertia effects are considered simultaneously.
• Results indicate that the inertia force doesn’t affect the enclosed area force-
displacement curve, but it does impact the configuration distribution.
• Sobol method, is employed to further investigate the effects of different operations
and structural parameters on the performance of shock absorber.
• Results indicate that for the equivalent damping coefficient, the excitation
frequency and amplitude and the quality of each part have little influence on it.
• The most important operational conditions are the external load while the most
important structural effects are the transmission ratio
• This work provides a theoretical basis for guiding the future design of the
mechatronic shock absorber 23
