What is a Leader?
Leaders can be found in any industry or organization, Usually known as a “Manager” or a “Boss”.

The Important question to be asked, are all the managers and bosses' successful leaders?

Short answer is NO.

Today we will be discussing 11 traits that transforms an ordinary manager to a successful and influential
leader.
1. Self-Managing
Is it possible to manage and influence a group of people without managing yourself first?

Clearly you can't, people tend to correspond to leaders whom they see as idols.

Self-managing revolves around the ability for an individual to be aware of his strengths, weaknesses and
bias sources. In addition to the ability of self and emotions control.

Time management and Balancing between professional and personal life are also important aspects of self-
management.
2. Strategic Mindset

Which refers to being able to adjust and cultivate new strategies as the market develops.

A flexible and open mindset is highly required in the current times, so leaders should always be ready to
adjust and grasp new opportunities.
3. Effective Communication
Communicating is not just about Speech it also includes effective listening.

Successful leaders are the ones who can clearly communicate to their team about the goals and objectives
they are trying to achieve.

Communication should be done through all levels and using all the available methods, and here is where
successful leaders differ from the usual managers where they can utilize all the methods to bring all levels
together.
4. Accountability and Responsibility

Effective managers understand how to wield authority and influence effectively without intimidating or
dominating staff members.

Successful leaders expect others to follow suit by holding themselves accountable and accepting
responsibility for their own errors.
5. Planning Realistic Goals
Be steadfast and focused on the pursuit of your clearly defined goals.

Keep in mind that setting goals in writing is essential to your success and the success of your business.

But accomplishing those goals takes time. If you give up, so will everyone around you. To be a successful
leader, you must be willing to keep going when others are tempted to throw in the towel.
6. Future Vision

Outstanding leaders are able to envision the future of their organization and set definite, actionable goals
that will be advantageous to it. They exude assurance and optimism, which energizes others around them.

Being a visionary involves controlling change and achieving a healthy balance between stability and
expansion.
7. Managing Complex Environment

Leaders must be able to handle problems and make choices in situations that are always changing. Any
leader must develop the ability to lead in a complex setting.

Effective leaders must evaluate the complexity of a situation and decide on the best courses of action even
before any conclusive information is available.
8. Cheering for Innovation and Creativity

Leaders need to have the guts to support innovation and risk-taking. By doing this, you will encourage the
creativity that will guide your company to new locations and around the curves of a shifting business
landscape.

The secret is to always be tenacious in pursuing your objectives, as well as flexible and open-minded in how
you get there.
9. Emphasizing on Teamwork

The individuals you work with will help you lead effectively. Building a team is crucial for managing a
diverse and special set of individuals with distinctive motivations, personalities, and abilities.

To accomplish many of the items on this list, like encouraging creativity, good communication, and
reaching organisational goals, strong teams and teamwork are essential.
10. Maintaining Relationships

In addition to motivating others to follow them, compelling leaders also know how to excite their workforce
to work tirelessly for the company's objectives.

Great leaders are also aware of the necessity for successful networking for the benefit of their organization
as well as for their personal professional advancement. Leaders create significant connections with
consumers, clients, partners, and even competitors by building a broad and diverse network of people.
11. Agility
Great leaders are aware that the foundation of their leadership strength is their capacity to adjust to rapidly
changing circumstances and to recognize when to seize opportunities in an evolving landscape.

Having a never-ending curiosity will motivate you to keep learning and developing. Learning Agility will
emphasize to develop critical learning skills, the ability to accept uncertainty, having social and
emotional intelligence, and having the desire and determination to move forward all the time.
