KERENDAN CARBONATE

• Kerendan platform is a latest Eocene and Oligocene (?)limestone Berai

formation.
• Approximately 1000 m thick.
• Facies tracts can be distinguished: (1) platform interior (lagoon), (2) very
shallow platform rim and (3) basinward dipping shelf margin and slope.
• the Kerendan platform was a topographically elevated rim.
• Reservoir intervals of the platform rim have porosities of 5-11%, with
porosity decreasing lagoonward as grainstones and boundstones decrease.
• Variable but locally very high permeabilities (greater than 100 mD).
Permeabilities decrease with depth as vuggy pores decrease, and
microporosity becomes dominant.
