18
General About Software

A minimum of parameters to be set at commissioning, almost plug and

play.

Main functions
– Maximum Power Point tracking
For maximization of yield.
– Grid Code Functions
For compliance with national grid standards.

19
Maximum Power Point

Needed in order to maximize power output under all conditions

The MPP Tracker controls DC voltage reference in order to find the
maximum power.
Multi-Master system with common DC: Only master tracks MPP and slaves
follows same DC reference.

20
Why are grid codes needed?

Grid Functionality and Comparability

– Voltage and Frequency in range and as sinus wave
– EMC
Grid Stability
– Power balancing
Grid “inertia” is decreasing because of renewable.
– Fault tolerance
Stay on-line during grid disturbance.
– Grid fault detection
Reactive current injection for detection of fault position.
Grid Safety
– Loss of mains -> Anti-Islanding

21
Grid Code functions

LVRT (low voltage ride through), ZVRT(Zero Voltage)

– Stay online, supply voltage drops and returns
– Reactive current support (capacitive) to increase voltage
– A stable power supply for auxiliary circuit needed. UPS recommended.
HVRT (high voltage ride through)
– Stay online, supply overvoltage incidents and returns
– Reactive current support (inductive) to reduce voltage
Reactive current injection
– In fault situations to support the grid voltage e.g. in short circuit situations
– To stabilize the grid

22
Grid Code functions

Voltage and Frequency in Range

– Voltage and frequency has to be within operational range.
– Anti islanding
Power change and reconnection time to grid
– Time until a reconnection to grid is allowed after fault.
– Power ramped up at limited rate after reconnection. (%/s)

23
Multimaster

Starting order of units is

changed from day to day.
Minimizes losses.
Ensure equal usage.
Extends life-time.
Service friendly

25
Touchpad Control Panel: Main functions

Control and HMI of the system

Multi-Master handling. Activates the right amount of inverters to operate

at the highest efficiency and lifetime.

Trend logging for individual units and whole system

State monitoring for whole system and single units

Design for Service

0,2 - 1 MW units are made of 200 kW modules

Maintenance and Spare parts for 200 kW units
vs. 1000 kW unit are:
– Smaller, easier and faster to replace
– Lower cost of ownership

Every 200 kW module is in a separate section

– Maintenance work can be done for one module
while others are operational

28
Service Offering

Start-up
– Planned on-time start up of the plant and verification on the ambient conditions
for long life time of the inverter
Maintenance and parts
– Scheduled maintenance and verification on the ambient conditions for long life
time of the inverter
Repair and parts
– Recovery of energy production in case of failure
Support
– Professional network at your service

29
Accessories: Remote monitoring

Collects data from inverters and string
