Drawing Conclusion:
1. PARAPHRASE or RESTATE the poem in simple
words, as though talking to someone on the
telephone.
2. EMPHASIZE a pattern of details, sounds, or
rhythm.
EXAMPLES:
o Is the poet defining something, such as
parenthood, risking a life, curiosity, marriage,
religious faith, or aging?
o Is the poet telling a story event by event?
o Does the poet want to sway the reader's
opinion?
Drawing Conclusion:
From the title itself, it is clearly stated that Padre Faura
witnessed the execution of Rizal while on the roof of Ateneo
Municipal. The priest was nervous and scared as he was
shivering due to cold temperature while on the roof. The priest
remembered that Rizal just came back home from Europe
after the winter, and because of the sudden climate change, he
noticed that Rizal's cheeks went reddish.
According to Padre Faura, it was just few months
before when Rizal visited him in the observatory of Ateneo
Municipal. He thought that they will just talk about the star
but instead, their conversation went to another topic. Rizal
knew of his impending death, that is why he asked about
purgatory. Remembering that moment, Padre Faura went into
tears. He compared Rizal as a shimmering star. Though Rizal
is gone, he remains as the star, shining in every heart of
Filipinos.
