MAINTAIN CONSTANT TERMINAL VOLTAGE. THE O/P QUANTITY OF THIS IS THE SET POINT FOR FOLLOWING:

  

THE EXCITATION CURRENT REGULATOR , CONTROLLING THE FIELD CURRENT OF MAIN EXCITER CIRCUIT FOR AUTOMATIC EXCITATION BUILD UP DURING START UP & FIELD SUPPRESSION DURING SHUT DOWN. LIMITER FOR UNDER EXCITATION. LIMITER FOR OVER EXCITATION. LIMITER FOR V/F.

EXCITATION CURRENT REGULATOR ( MANUAL)




THIS IS CALLED MANUAL CHANNEL BECAUSE FOR CONSTANT GENERATOR VOLTAGE , MANUAL READJUSTING OF THE EXCITATION CURRENT SET POINT IS REQUIRED WHEN CHANGING THE GENERATOR LOAD.THIS IS OPEN LOOP CONTROL. NORMALLY , AUTOMATIC VOLTAGE REGULATOR REMAINS IN SERVICE EVEN DURING START UP & SHUT DOWN. MANUAL IS GENERALLY USED FOR TESTING & COMMISSIONING AND DURING NORMAL OPERATION WHENEVER THERE IS ANY PROBLEM IN AUTO CIRCUIT.

BASIC CONFIGERATION OF AVR:

TWO SEPARATE THYRISTOR SETS FOR AUTOMATIC VOLTAGE REGULATION (AUTO) AND EXCITATION CURENT CONTROL (MANUAL) ARE RATED FOR SIMILAR VOLTAGE & CURENT RATING. THYRISTOR SET FOR AUTO CAN BE SWITCHED OFF BY ISOLATOR WHICH ISOLATE GATE CONTROL , POWER SUPPLY & OUTPUT AND ENABLES REPLACEMENT OF THYRISTOR & FUSES DURING OPERATION WITH AVR IN MANUAL CONTROL MODE. THE SET POINT ADJUSTER OF THE EXCITATION CURRENT REGULATOR FOR MANUAL IS TRACKED AUTOMATICALLY SO THAT IN EVENT OF FAULT , CHANGE OVER TO MANUAL IS POSSIBLE WITHOUT ANY DELAY & FLUCTUATION IN SYSTEM.

BASIC CONFIGERATION OF AVR:

THYRISTOR SET FOR AUTO IS ALSO MONITORED THROUGH CURRENT FLOW MONITORING SYSTEM FOR DETECTION OF FAILURE OF FIRING PULSES OR FUSES AND AUTOMATIC CHANGEOVER IS INITIATED TO MANUAL THROUGH THIS SYSTEM. CONTROL SUPPLIES USED ARE +-24V & +-15V .

SEVERAL HALF OVERLAPPED CONT. LAYER OF MICA TAPE ARE APPLIED OVER BARS. FINAL LAYER OF SEMICONDUCTING TAPE IS APPLIED. THE TAPPED BARS ARE INSERTED IN SLOTS AND CONNECTED UP.

THE INNER FRAME WITH CORE AND WINDING PRE DRIED IN VACCUME TANK, EVACUATED AND IMMERSED IN EPOXY REIN. RESIN PRESSURISATION TO ENSURE PROPER IMPREGNATION SURPLUS RESIN IS DRAINED UNTILL THE COOLING AIR PASSAGES ARE FREE FROM IMPREGNATING RESIN. THE COMPLETED STATOR IS THEN PLACED IN OVEN AND CURED.

LESS MOISTURE ABSORPATION , IMPREGNATION SEALS WINDING COMPLETELY HIGHLY RESISTANCE TO CHEMICAL ACTIONS. CORROSIVE GASES , LUBRICATING OIL, WEAK ACIDS & ALKALIES DOES NOT REACT WITH WINDING LONG ELECTRICAL LIFE

GOOD CONDUCTOR OF HEAT BY REASON OF ITS HIGH MICA CONTENT AND VOID FREE SYNTHETIC RESIN. HIGH THERMAL STABILITY MICALASTIC FEATURES AN ELASTIC RESPONSE TO THERMOMECHANICAL STRESS.ALTERNATE HEATING & COOLING WITH LARGE DIFFERENCE IN TEMPERATURE ARE ENDURED WITHOUT DETRIMENTAL EFECT.MICALASTIC REMAINS FIRMLY BONDED WITH COPPER & CORE. THE INSULATION FEATURES LOW FLAMABILITY.
