People who live near our house are our
neighbours. Our neighbours and the
places around our house form our
neighbourhood.A good neighbourhood
has many useful services.
 Hospital
We need a hospital when we are
ill. A hospital has many doctors
and nurses.
 Police Station
Police works at a police station.
They help in maintaining law and
order in and around their area.
 Fire Station
A fire station is a place where
many firemen work.
Firemen help to put out fire. There
are many fire brigades in a fire
station.
 Market
Market is a place where we go to
buy things. A market has many
shops such as grocer, chemist,
drycleaner etc.
“Mall” or “Super Bazar” are
some big markets where you
get many things under one
roof.
 Park
A park is a place where children
go to play. People visit a park for
a walk. A park has a lawn and
many plants.
 Post Office
A post office is a place from where
we get envelopes, inland letters,
stamps and post cards. Many
postmen work in a post office. The
postmaster is the head of the post
office. Letters are posted in a letter
box.
 Bank
We keep our money and jewellery
in a bank. Bank keeps our
valuables safe.
 School
Children go to a school to learn
things like how to read and write.
There are many teachers in
school. Teachers help the children
to become good humans.
Other important places in the
neighbourhood are auto stand,
bus stand ,railway station etc.
