OBJECTIVES:

1. Identify the correct verb that agrees with the


compound subject;
2. Supply the correct verb that agrees with the compound
subject.
3. Sustain interest in studying subject-verb agreement.

• Instruction: Combine the following sentences to make a
single sentence and write them on the board
1. Patrick is excited to go to the Krabby Patty...and
Spongebob is excited to go to the Krabby patty....
2. Dora is finding the map... and Boots is finding
the map....
Tom was running outside the city this afternoon...and
Jerry was running outside the city this afternoon...
4. Scooby is afraid of the dark... and Shaggy is afraid
of the dark..
Phineas wants to build a gigantic tower... and Ferb
wants to build a gigantic tower...

1.Two singular subjects joined by and must have
a plural verb.
ex:
Maria and John are throwing their garbage properly.

How to prevent fire accidents in three simple ways?

Fire accidents can be prevented very easily only if we want


to: Fires or heaters are the roots of fire, they should be well
guarded, especially open fires. Neither matches nor lighters
are sometimes cause of fire; therefore, if there are children
around, keep them well out of reach. Wooden or plastic
types of furniture easily catch fire where it should be kept
away from portable heaters and candles.

1. Two or more singular subjects joined by or or nor must have a
singular verb.

Ex. Match or lighter burns fire.

2. Two or more plural subjects joined by or or nor must have plural
verbs.

ex. Neither chargers nor electrical appliances overheat if unplugged.

3. If one part of a compound subject is singular and the other is
plural joined by or or nor, the verb agrees with the subject
closest to it.

Ex: Either David or my cousins are avoiding playing fire.

Instruction: Identify the correct verbs that agrees with the subjects
