-succession of pitches in musical time
Five type of Melody

1.No movement
2.Ascending stepwise
3.Descending stepwise
4.Ascending skip wise
5.Descending skipwise
No Movement

-it shows that the pitch are not moving ,or steady.
Ascending Stepwise
-the notes succession are going upward by a whole step
Descending Stepwise
-the pitch succession are going downward
Ascending Skipwise
the pitch is somehow skipping a note upward
