How to measure the tip?

NOT PARALLEL, SO
WE CAN NOT USE
CALIPERS OR
MICROMETER

What to do? The solution can be with old ball bearing trick.We need to place the parallel
on a flat surface with an edge stop, place the cutter upside down on top pushing the the
tip against the stop and plsce one ball on each side.
THIRD PART

Making the hob

The engineer use screw cutting technique.
As we can know the actual diameter of the hob does not metter, bigger is better as
the hob will have more teeth which produces a better result.

THE NEXT STEP IS TO CUT TEETH INTO THE
HOB USING THE MILLING MACHINE
WE NEED TO CUT SLIGHTLY
BEYOND THE CENTER LINE TO
GIVE THE TEETH A SMALL RAKE

ANGLE teeth short as like a tap they do not have any clearence on
the sides
THE LAST PART
 HEATING
The hop needs to be hardened
before use by heating it red hot
and quenching in oil.

-After heating it needs

tempering for an hour,
otherwise the teeth could break.
