Media Influence!

Rationale:

• It is quite convenient for us to connect with the rest of the globe because we have seen
numerous ups and downs in people's attitudes. The algorithms underlying these enormously
powerful social media platforms may be contributing to the rise of extremism and online
violence. As time went on, communication techniques changed to fit the fast-paced
environment of people's busy lives. From giving us new ways to come together and stay
connected with the world around us to providing outlets for self-expression

• Without a doubt, social media has altered the world and forged international connections.
Social media's detrimental effects on stress and mental health have long been assumed, yet
they have lately been proven by a number of studies over the past couple of years. Social
media is used by exact three billion people, or around 40% of the world's population, mostly
young people, and they spend almost an average of 61 minutes each day. This has an impact
on a large segment of mankind. Through excessive use of social media and needless anxiety,
we can be sacrificing both our time and mental health.
Rationale:
• One of the biggest problems with social media is that it can negatively affect our mental
health. Studies have shown that people who spend a lot of time on social media are more
likely to suffer from depression, anxiety, and low self-esteem. This is because we compare our
own lives to the seemingly perfect lives we see online and feel like we don’t measure up.
Another problem with social media is that it can be addictive. We get a hit of dopamine every
time someone likes our post or comments on our picture, and this can lead to us spending
more and more time on social media in an attempt to get that feeling again. This can be
harmful to our productivity, relationships, mental health.

• Setting boundaries for oneself is one action you can do. Set a daily limit for the amount of
time you wish to spend on social media and go by it. When you've had enough, log off and
move on to something else. Although social media can be a terrific method to stay in touch
with loved ones, it's crucial to set time limits for yourself. You may cut down on the amount of
time you spend on social media each day by putting restrictions in place and making it more
difficult to access.

• The advantages of reducing social media usage We will be able to focus better on more
important tasks. We might be better out spending that time to finish up a work project or begin
that book you've been meaning to read than lazy scrolling through your Fb/TikTok
Additionally, having good mental health can result from using social media less.
• A study indicated that people who use social media less frequently tend to have higher levels
of life satisfaction and well-being.  These advantages can really help us focus on the things we
do and help us to be healthy.   “The greatest wealth is health.”
Media! What is media?
• Social media is a great way to communicate with people, influence them, learn
from them, and make money.

• Social media has a variety of different effects on people, businesses, workplace

cultures, politics, and much more. Social media's impact on society is
unmistakable.

• On the other hand, social, political, and ethical ills might be more pronounced
in the absence of social media. However, there is a balance between the darker
and lighter aspects of social media.
Influence of Social Media
The influence of mass media has an effect on many aspects of human life, which can
include voting a certain way, individual views and beliefs, or skewing a person's
knowledge, audience's thoughts, attitudes, and behavior of a specific topic due to
being provided false information.

Social media has influenced its users to use computers and smartphones to voice their
worries. People might willingly support issues in place of actively taking part in
campaigns. Despite some of the negative effects of social media and the difficulties
we have mentioned, it continues to have an impact on people.

And many more..

Effects of Social media!
These effects can be positive or negative, abrupt or gradual,
short-term or long-lasting. Not all effects result in change; some
media messages reinforce an existing belief:
Media effects are measurable effects that result
from media influence or a media message. Whether a media message has
an effect on any of its audience members is contingent on many factors,
including audience demographics and psychological characteristics.
Great way to example this is a coin, everything has two sides and as a society of
educated and compassionate people, it all depends on us. Ultimately, we can
decide how social media influences us in doing things. It is important to
understand what can intimidate us from doing wrong or encourage us in doing
the right thing.
Importance of media!:
It is important for physicians to discuss with parents their
child's exposure to media and to provide guidance on age-
appropriate use of any media, including television, radio,
music, video games and the Internet.
Some effects of social media:
• Society is all about accepting others as they are. Everyone aspires to social acceptance.
Social media, on the other hand, has an impact on society in addition to people. On
virtually even major social media networks, such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.,
there are a huge number of users. For people of all ages, from teenagers to seniors,
feeling welcomed is crucial. Social media certainly affects people. Having a social
media presence online makes it
• Easier for others to find and get in touch with people. Social media, on the other hand,
has an impact on people and makes them feel connected to society and involved.

Some Good Influence
of Social Media:
• Every day, a large number of societal concerns are discussed on social
media sites. People learn more in their area of interest with every social
media feed. Social media encourages people to concentrate more on the
topics that interest them by providing related material.
• It motivates them to communicate with people who share their interests
and helps them stay connected to society and their interests. Social
media swings its user’s opinions and charitable giving.
• This not only causes individuals to feel good about giving to a
worthwhile cause, yet it also benefits those on the other side.
Social Media Impacts:
• Social media has had a significant impact on our society. It brings
individuals together who share interests and helps them build social
networks where they can interact and share ideas.
• It doesn't matter if it's about a game that everyone enjoys or about memes
that they can all relate to and find funny. Social media has a significant
cultural impact on several variables.
• Media effects are observable consequences of media sway or a media
message. Several elements, such as audience demographics and
psychological traits, influence whether a media message has an impact on
any of its audience members.
• These outcomes can be favorable or unfavorable, abrupt or gradual, short-lived or
long-lived. A belief can be reinforced by media messages, therefore not all effects lead
to change.
• Social media influence refers to both deliberate and accidental attempts to alter another
person's opinions, attitudes, or actions. Social influence can be unintentional or
incidental, in contrast to persuasion, which is often planned and necessitates some
level of awareness on the part of the target.
• Following media exposure, researchers look for alterations in audience members'
beliefs, attitudes, and cognitive processes as well as emotional, physiological, and
behavioral repercussions.
• Teenagers and preteens are capable of being informed media consumers. They don't
simply absorb everything they read, watch, or hear in the news or on social media.
Media influence!
In Pre-Teen And Teenagers

• The influence of the media on the psychosocial development of children is

profound
• For example, advertising is often directed at children of all ages. This means
that children, pre-teens and teenagers are increasingly conscious of brands and
images.
• Media influence can also be indirect. For example, this might include
sexualised images and content on Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok and YouTube
Other media influence by teenager
• This kind of media influence can suggest to pre-teens and teenagers that certain
ways of behaving and looking are ‘normal’.
• Social influence involves intentional and unintentional efforts to change another
person's beliefs, attitudes, or behavior. Unlike persuasion, which is typically
intentional and requires some degree of awareness on the part of the target, social
influence may be inadvertent or accidental.
• Social influence is the process by which an individual's attitudes, beliefs or
behavior are modified by the presence or action of others. Four areas of social
influence are conformity, compliance and obedience, and minority influence.
Fun Fact!

the negative impacts of influencers may promote unhealthy habits,
reduce social interactions skills and lead to mental health
conditions, such as body dysmorphia. He also warned that not
everything presented by influencers on social media is real.
