The Philippines has embraced the multigrade
schooling approach subscribing to international
research findings that multigrade schooling is a
cost-effective means of raising participation rates
and student achievement in poor remote areas.
In so far as profiling is concerned, a survey research on
multigrade in the Philippines, jointly conducted in 2009
by the Department of Education’s Bureau of Elementary
Education and SEAMEO INNOTECH.
The study sample had a total of 205
respondents representing 14 regions (except
regions CAR, and ARMM) coming from 22
DepEd Divisions nationwide. This number
represents 2.57% of the total multigrade
schools in the country.
