GSIS
What is GSIS ?
GSIS stands for Government Service Insurance System. It is a social
insurance institution in the Philippines that provides life insurance,
retirement benefits, and other social welfare services to government
employees. GSIS members include employees of national government
agencies, local government units, state universities and colleges, and
government-owned or controlled corporations. GSIS is mandated by
law to administer social security programs for government employees
and their dependents, and it operates under the supervision of the
Office of the President of the Philippines.
The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS)
provides various benefits to its members, which include:

Retirement benefits: Members who have rendered at least 15 years

of service may apply for a retirement benefit. The amount of the
benefit depends on the length of service and the average monthly
salary of the member.

Life insurance: GSIS members are automatically covered by a life

insurance policy. The policy amount varies depending on the
member's salary and other factors.

Disability benefits: Members who become totally or permanently

disabled due to an injury or illness may be entitled to disability
benefits.
Survivorship benefits: In case of the member's death, the
surviving spouse and dependent children may be entitled to
survivorship benefits.

Loans: GSIS offers various loan programs to its members, such as

emergency loans, policy loans, and housing loans.

Other benefits: GSIS also provides other benefits, such as funeral

and burial assistance, scholarship programs for dependents, and
various social welfare programs.
