What is fitness?

FITNESS- is defined as the condition in which an


individual has enough energy to avoid fatigue and
enjoy life.
What is physical fitness?
• Measurement of the body’s
ability to carry out daily tasks
efficiently and effectively in
work and in leisure activities.

1.A. Muscular Strength
• What is Muscular Strength?
– Amount of force the muscles apply when carrying
out a task.
– The force is how much weight you can lift at a
given moment.
1.B. Muscular Endurance
• What is muscular endurance?
– Ability to use groups of muscle over a certain
amount of time without getting fatigued.

• How does it differ from muscular strength?


– Muscular strength is lifting something heavy,
muscular endurance is lifting something over and
over.
2. Cardiovascular Fitness
Cardio-respiratory Endurance
Is the ability of the heart(cardio) and circulatory
system (vascular) to supply oxygen to muscles
for an extended period of time.
– Your heart and lungs ability to work efficiently
during a physical activity.

3. Flexibility
• What is Flexibility?
– Your body's ability to move your joints through a
full range of motion without pain.
– Flexibility depends on bones, muscles, tendons
and ligaments of a joint.
4. Body Composition
• What is Body Composition?
– Is the ratio of body fat to lean body mass
( including water, bones, muscles, and connective
tissues)
-Too much body fat can lead to diseases.
• Heart disease, diabetes, obesity, cancer , arthritis
– The more body fat your body carries, the hard
your heart has to work.

Definition – Time between stimulus-
response
