 Fire drills are required once each semester

to test fire alarm systems and fire reporting


procedures under simulated emergency
conditions. Such drills ensure familiarity with
exits which in turn ensures that everyone gets out
of the building promptly and in an organized
manner to a place of safety .

Planning
Below are the steps to follow when establishing and participating in
fire drills.

Pre-plan:
 The Fire Safety Coordinator shall
arrange, conduct, and record drill
results.
The Fire Safety Coordinator shall
be the person in charge at the chapter
house in the event an actual fire
emergency occurs.

Pre-plan:
 The fire drill plan
shall include everybody
in the building.  This
includes all residents,
visitors, guests,
employees, and
attendants.  There are
no excuses for not
participating.  Everyone
must leave the building
during the drill period.

1. Remove all people from danger

When:
Practice drills shall be held to check the
ability of members to perform the
operations they are expected to carry out.
Drills shall be occasionally held under
adverse weather conditions to work on
special procedures needed under such
circumstances.

How:
The Fire Safety coordinator shall:
 
   Notify Buug Fire Station and Rescue of
the planned fire drill, giving the exact time
at which the alarm will be sounded.

How:
In reporting fires give the following
information:
Name of caller
Telephone number of caller
Exact location or the nearest corner/landmark

   Sound the
alarm by operation
of the fire alarm
system, and
spread the alarm
by word of mouth
so that everyone in
the building is
aware of the fire
drill.

How:
 The Fire Coordinator shall terminate
the fire drill by:

1. Resetting the building alarm system.


2. Notify building occupants that they are
allowed to return to the building by
giving the “all clear” signal.
3. Notifying the appropriate dispatcher(s),
that the drill has been completed.
4. Make a written record of the date, time,
and results of the drill.

How:
   The chapter officers should meet
directly after each fire drill to evaluate
the success of the drill and work out
details which have been faulty or
misunderstood.
